A few Physalis paintings :

  1. 2008, acrylic on canvas, 130 x 130 cm ( 51 x 51 inches)

  2. Valentine's 2010, acrylic on canvas, 27 1/2 x 27 1/2 inches ( 70 x 70 cm)

In France, the common name for that fruit is AMOUR EN CAGE (love enclosed in a cage) This flower is brightly ornamenting gardens late in season, that why I paint it to symbolize winter. Red and orange remind us of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Love because when matured, the small red-orange shinny cherry like fruit is enclosed in a finely textured cage. The fruit is a delicacy in some gastronomic restaurant, and the cage itself, when dipped in melting silver is a nice piece of jewelry.

This painting is a large piece, about 51 x 51 inches, acrylic on canvas, painted in two years and completed in 2008
